Multiples of 5 include: 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50, 55, 60, ... Common method of multiplying numbers by 5: Another technique in dealing with multiplication by 5 (which I often use to make it easier for me to solve this mentally) is: Choose for yourself which is easier then try doing it mentally. In dealing with odd numbers, I usually convert it to an even number first by multiplying it with 10 before dividing it by 2.
Sometimes, the hardest problems in math (and even in life) have the easiest solutions. All we need to do is go back to our fundamentals and sometimes, think out of the box. So as a starter for our adventure, i’d love to feature this Matchbox Stabilizer. (Take note of the rhyme. 😉) This is a case that doesn’t exactly need solving, however a little exercise for our brains won’t kill us, will it? The book is dedicated to M.E. Hurst, a physics teacher who taught more than physics. 😉
Proceeding with the second exercise. Practice solving these in pen and paper. Set a timer. Solve the set of problems a second time and try to beat your best time.
